EspaceJeux Online Gambling Revenues Skyrocket 40%

The company’s stated goal for the year was to increase revenues to $85.9m, a mark it will easily be able to hit if it can continue this pace.

Loto-Quebec, the provincial monopoly responsible for running online gambling and lottery games within Quebec, increased its year-over-year H1 2017 revenues by 40%, the company said in a statement. Overall, revenues reached $1.8b, a 3.5% increase over last year. Overall operating profits were even stronger, enjoying a 6.2% raise to $678.6m.

“Our lottery games continued their strong performance, despite a decrease in the number of jackpots from last year. Our share of the overall Canadian lottery market remains high at 34.7%. Our three national products enjoyed the strongest showing of any of the five Canadian lottery providers. Moreover, luck was once again on the side of Quebecers, who were able to win several large jackpots,” said Loto-Quebec’s President and CEO, Lynne Roiter.

EspaceJeux.com Over Performs

For its part, Loto-Quebec’s flagship ‘espacejeux’ website was able to collect $50m over the course of H1. That was by far and away the most spectacular number in the report, representing a 42.3% increase from 2016. The company’s stated goal for the year was to increase revenues to $85.9m, a mark it will easily be able to hit if it can continue this pace.

In addition, the company outlined some of its long-term goals from now until 2020. It focused on the creation of four specific areas where it would like to place emphasis: putting clients at the heart of decision making, developing new synergies linking games and entertainment, increased social awareness for the company and its customer facing operations, and increasing the fluidity and effectiveness of its operations.

Virtual Reality Increases

In addition to increases in its revenues and a focus on its overall vision, the company also highlighted some of the new additions that are driving growth.

Most notable is the advent of virtual reality as a tool for preparing huge jackpot winners for the new life that awaits them. The training comes in the form of virtual seminars about financial planning for the wealthy, as well as tips for avoiding the traps that many fall into when friends and family come looking to get some of the millions players win.

Given the huge increase in the number of Canadians playing and winning big, there will certainly be no shortage of people making use of those services.
