Baccarat Casino Site Crying Out for a Takeover
There are some wonderful casino sites across Canada, and we have seen many projects and developments across the country over the past few years. The OLG, BCLC, and provincial governments across Canada have been very good about developing casino sites and helping to bring more money to the economy, and promote more jobs as well. You can find out more about casino projects popping up all across the country by heading to our website and reading the news section. Understanding how much these projects are impacting the country, and your ability to gamble is so important. However, that is not to say that every single casino in Canada is currently fully operational and bringing in the big bucks. Indeed, in Edmonton, Baccarat Casino sits empty and disused, having been shut for around three years now. Back in 2015-16, there was a decision made to move the casino to Edmonton’s downtownarena district, and then the demolition of the Baccarat site would begin. The casino was deemed one of the ugliest buildings in the province, and many were very happy to see the back of it.
Do Any Casino Companies Have Plans for the Closed Baccarat Plot? We Will Have to Wait and See
Except, it seems that this demolition never happened in the end! In fact, the casino remains as intact as it did when it shut in 2016. Gateway Casinos decided to upgrade their portfolio, and pump C$32 million into building Grand Villa Casino, in the nearby Roger Place Arena, and so the Baccarat’s fate was sealed. For whatever reason, it seems that the casino has just sat there gathering dust for the next three years. Even a year later, there were reports that the future of the Baccarat site remained a mystery, and it didn’t seem like anyone was interested in developing the site. And it is a shame that the site is lying there disused, even still. It can’t be doing the aesthetics of Edmonton any good, and it would surely be better for somebody to buy up the lot. The hope among locals is likely to be that a casino company will buy up the casino and renovate the lot so that existing casino gets a modern face-lift, and a brand new casino can be launched to attract more tourism to the area. This is something that has been happening across the country fairly regularly over the past couple of years, so there remains hope that this will happen in the near future. The dream would be a modern casino, with great slot opportunities, and a focus on sports betting, but this might have to be something for the future when the sports betting laws in the country change.
