BC Gambler Habits to be Monitored by Thinking Systems in Future

There are a lot of developments in the world of casino gambling in Canada, and this is definitely something that you need to think about. There are a lot of opportunities for players and gamblers to make a big difference in the casino world, and there are developments happening every passing month at the moment. It is clear that the world of gambling plays a big role in taking things further and boosting the economy of Canada significantly.

In fact, there are so many benefits to the world of gambling that it has become essential to monitor the gambling activities across casinos. Money laundering has, unfortunately, played a big role in the Canadian gambling industry, and this is something that has threatened to taint the success of the industry.

However, it is not just money laundering that has played such a pivotal role in shaping the gambling industry in Canada; problem gambling has also played a part. The online gambling industry in Canada has continued to grow, even as the number of people struggling with gambling addiction is coming to light. Indeed, even MP Raj Grewal was embroiled in controversy when he admitted to battling with addiction late last year.

Provinces across Canada have spoken about the need to deal with problem gambling, with some even considering introducing lifetime bans for gamblers who struggle with problems. This has opened up other avenues, and led to questions about the monitoring of players’ habits, as well as making casinos more proactive when it comes to dealing with these sorts of serious issues.

And this is one of the reasons why news broke this week about the fact that B.C. gamblers could find their gaming habits monitored by thinking systems in the not too distant future. It seems like the ideas behind this approach is to utilise algorithms in a bid to identify troubling patterns or behaviour, and to tackle problem gambling as early as possible.

The move comes as B.C. plans to crackdown on the issues of gambling addiction, and pay better care to its residence. This is not a new problem either, and even back in 2013, Health Officer Perry Kendall revealed that problem gambling had doubled in British Columbia. In spite of this it seems that efforts to deal with the issue since then have been fleeting at best. So this is an issue that needs to be dealt with as much as possible. Treating gambling dependency in the province is crucial, and there are plenty of things the government can (and should) be doing in a bid to help with this.

Former gambling addicts remain sceptical about the government’s drive to actually eradicate such a big problem. One former addict even claimed the B.C. government lacks the will to impose limits on such a lucrative industry, and she may well have a point. That being said, it does seem the authorities have at least started to get a little more serious with things moving forward.
