Cascades Casino Delta Finally Gets Opening Date
Of all the casino developments across Canada that we have heard about for the past year or so, the one to get perhaps the most excited about is Cascades Casino Delta. A projects spearheaded by Gateway Casinos and Entertainment, work on Cascades is pencilled in for 2019, withan opening expected around late 2020.
In fact, there have been a few additional developments since the work was originally planned, and there is now talk that the casino could launch cashless when it eventually opens. This would certainly be a groundbreaking business model for land-based casinos in Canada, and would undoubtedly see a lot of others follow suit. It shows that Gateway Casinos remains a pioneer in the industry, and they are having a massive impact on the industry across provinces right now. The backstory to Cascades Casino Delta has not been a smooth one by any means, and at one time it seemed as though there may not even be a casino development happening. Indeed, the Mayor of Richmond vowed to fight any Delta casino project back in the summer of 2018. Well, it seems that things have finally been sorted out, and it looks like work will finally go ahead on the much anticipated casino.
2020 Scheduled Opening for New Cascades Casino to Open in Delta Despite Opposition
The ambitious project will include a five-store hotel with more than 115 rooms, 500 slots, and two dozen table games. Revenue is estimated to be between $1.5 million and $3 million annually for Delta, and this is going to be a game-changer. With Gateway finally setting a date for the opening of Delta’s Cascade Casino, punters can finally look forward to a future in which they will be able to enjoy some top of the range slots.
British Columbia Lottery and Gaming has signed off on this development, and the greenlight will finally see work begin on the casino in the Delta area. This has been in the works for some time, as we know, and Richmond was opposed to the project for a number of reasons. This caused BCLC to implement a dispute resolution process which resulted in a decision ruling in favour of the project. This is a massive coup for Gateway, and yet another string to add to their bow.
In fact, it’s a move that could well see many more development projects start across Canada, which would be great for the future, and is going to work wonders for the industry moving forward. This is something to keep an eye out for in the future, and it suggests there are exciting times ahead for the industry in Canada.
