????This Week in Canada: The Stars Group Expects Record Revenue in Q1 2020

The first quarter of 2020 is proving to be very good to the Toronto-based gaming and online company, The Stars Group. The company has projected a whopping $735 million in revenues for Q1 2020, which is about 27% in revenue growth compared to last year’s result of the same quarter.

The group has seen a surge in their customers’ activities, especially in the beginning of March 2020, presumably due to the lockdown measures being implemented to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. This increased level of activity, mainly on their online poker and online casino platforms, continued well into April, showing no signs of slowing down.

Despite its thriving business, The Stars Group CEO promised that their biggest priority is the health and safety of their customers and employees. This includes enhancing their responsible gambling measures and support to their players. Well, that’s a relief to hear❗

????This Week in the Rest of the World: Sweden to Limit Online Gambling Amid Pandemic

With sports events being cancelled all over the country, many Swedes find themselves being at home a lot with not much to do to entertain themselves. Hence, many of them have turned to online gambling, particularly, playing on slot machines. This sudden increase in online gambling activity has got their government a bit worried.

The Swedish government plans to set a cap on how much a player can deposit into their online casino account. At the moment, they are looking at limiting it to 5,000 Swedish Krona (about $700) per week. Not only that, but the government will also limit losses on slots, force players to set a time limit on their gaming time, and cut down welcome bonuses online casinos offer to just 100 Krona ($14). From the looks of it, they certainly mean serious business❗
